State Route 520 is not an option this Saturday for a late-night drive from Seattle to the Eastside, as the highway’s eastbound lanes will be closed overnight for construction.

SR 520’s eastbound lanes close at 11 p.m. March 29 between Montlake Boulevard and 92nd Avenue Northeast. Eastbound travel across the SR 520 floating bridge will resume by 6 a.m. March 30. During the closure, contractor crews working on the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Eastside Transit and HOV Project will shift the eastbound lanes to the north near 92nd Avenue Northeast. The lane realignment will give construction crews room to build roadway barrier walls in that vicinity.

Two other SR 520 traffic restrictions are scheduled over the next several days on the Eastside.

84th Avenue Northeast off-ramp:

What’s closed: Eastbound SR 520 off-ramp to 84th Avenue Northeast, to enable realignment of the ramp for a new roundabout being built at 84th Avenue Northeast.

Date and time: 11 p.m. Friday, March 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31

Travel option: A signed detour will direct drivers to the next exit at Bellevue Way.

Evergreen Point Road freeway transit stop:

What’s closed: Eastbound SR 520 freeway transit stop at Evergreen Point Road and right lane of eastbound SR 520, for construction of an adjacent noise wall.

Date and time: 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, beginning Monday, March 31, and continuing nightly for up to one week.

Travel option: Late-night and early-morning bus riders can catch eastbound buses at the 92nd Avenue Northeast eastbound SR 520 freeway transit stop .
