Sex-toy shop hit by armed robbers

Two armed men hit a Rose Hill adult sex toy store on 85th Street and took an undisclosed amount of cash in an April 30 robbery.

Kirkland Police Lt. Nick Seibert said two white males robbed the Lover’s Package store at 12021 Northeast 85th Street in Kirkland on April 30 at approximately 3:25 p.m. The suspects, believed to be in their 20s, entered the store wearing tan shorts and bandanas and immediately demanded money from a female clerk, brandishing pistols. According to Seibert, the men came in and out of the store in a very short period of time and left on foot with an left with cash. The employee and a local woman, who witnessed the alleged crime, were unhurt.

The Lover’s Package, a specialty adult and sexual aides retailer is a wholly owned division of Auburn-based Peekay, Inc.

Lover’s Package General Manager Tristan Crouch declined to comment and referred all inquiries to the company’s corporate offices.

Kirkland Police spokesman Ofc. Allen O’Neill said armed robberies are rare event in Kirkland and said the department had two detectives working on locating the assailants.

“I don’t think we’ve had, other than a carjacking at knife point, an armed robbery this year,” he said.

Police report five robberies so far this year in Kirkland.

The unknown suspects were last seen heading eastbound on foot on Northeast 85th Street. A State Patrol trooper and Port of Seattle police thought they had located a suspect in a vehicle driving toward Sea-Tac International Airport later that afternoon, but the stop proved to be a case of mistaken identity.

Seibert said he’s not sure where the media reports got their information, but the Kirkland Police Department does not have any suspects or leads.

“At this time, we don’t have anything,” he said.

As of the Kirkland Reporter’s Monday evening deadline, the case is still under investigation.
