See what it looks like to experience a 9.0 earthquake at Kirkland City Hall

The city of Kirkland Office of Emergency Management and The Greater Kirkland Citizen Corps Council will present the first open house highlighting the many emergency preparedness organizations in the city on Feb. 6 in Council Chambers at Kirkland City Hall.

See what it looks like to experience a 9.0 earthquake. Be entertained with short vignettes about the importance of radio communications in a disaster, what it means to become part of the Community Emergency Response Team, how to engage your neighbors in developing a recovery plan and how drones will be used in a disaster.

Sample delicious meals made without power. Hour long presentations will be at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon.

What does it take to  be prepared and survive when a major disaster occurs? Participants can learn how to be involved in being preparing the community and their family.

There will be opportunities to register for classes, explore emergency preparedness kits and sample freeze dried food used in disasters.
