Redmond police arrested a 57-year-old woman at a Kirkland residence for robbery regarding an incident at Trader Joe’s, 15932 Redmond Way, on Tuesday afternoon.

Redmond police arrested a 57-year-old woman at a Kirkland residence for robbery regarding an incident at Trader Joe’s, 15932 Redmond Way, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Redmond Police Department (RPD), at about 2:30 p.m., the woman approached an 85-year-old Issaquah woman while she was shopping and told her they accidentally switched carts and purses. While looking through her purse after the suspect handed it back to her, the victim quickly realized items had been stolen. The victim followed the suspect into the parking lot, along with store employees, who noted the suspect’s suspicious behavior in the store.

“The suspect jumped into a car and quickly exited, almost hitting the victim, who was very shaken, but not injured. Employees and witnesses provided detailed descriptions of the vehicle and suspect, including the full plate number of the vehicle,” an RPD release read.

Officers located the suspect at the Kirkland residence at about 4:20 p.m. that afternoon.
