Police Blotter: Dec. 10 – Dec. 16

Between Wednesday, Dec. 10 and Tuesday, Dec. 16, the Kirkland Police Department reported 307 traffic violations (7 DUIs), 38 car accidents, 27 alarm calls, 18 assaults (12 domestic violence), 15 vehicle prowls, 15 thefts and eight disturbances. At least 41 people were arrested.

Wednesday, Dec. 10

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: 3:00 p.m., 1800 block of 6th Street. A Renton police officer walking through Crestwoods Park noticed a 14 and 15-year-old male juveniles smoking marijuana from a coke can. The drugs were confiscated while the suspects were arrested and later released to their parents. The case was referred to the juvenile courts for prosecution.

BURGLARY: 11:00 p.m., 12700 block of N.E. 97th Place. A resident reported his home was burglarized over the past several days while he was on vacation. The 35-year-old man claimed a computer, home electronics, valuable documents and 10 items of jewlery were stolen. No dollar value for the losses were given.

Thursday, Dec. 11

ASSAULT: 12:15 a.m., 100 block of Kirkland Avenue. A 35-year-old resident allegedly assaulted a patron and a bouncer at a bar. He was later identified after investigation.

ASSIST: 3:15 p.m., 6900 block of 112th Ave. Northeast. Two men thought to be in their 20s were allegedly seen attempting to cut down several pine trees near the southbound I-405 on-ramp. A witness believed they were trying to take them for use as Christmas trees.

FIRE: 6:01 p.m., 10900 block of 115th Ct. Northeast. A resident of the Park at Forbes Creek apartments reported seeing smoke in the hallway. Firefighters responded and extinguished a small residential fire there. No damage was reported.

RAPE: 9:00 p.m., 133 15th Avenue. A 22-year-old local man allegedly assaulted and raped his girlfriend during a break up. He was booked into custody on the domestic violence assault charge.

Monday, Dec. 15

ASSAULT: 10:52 p.m., 1900 Market Street. A Metro Bus driver reported a male passenger repeatedly struck a female passenger in he face with his cell phone. A male bystander tried to intervene and was also allegedly assaulted. The suspect and the female victim, who is associated with the assailant, fled the scene before police arrived.
