Between Wednesday, April 15 and Tuesday, April 22 the Kirkland Police Department reported 241 traffic violations, 20 thefts, 18 car accidents, 14 domestic violence calls, 14 alarm calls, 14 vehicle prowls, 11 burglaries, 10 DUIs and 10 child abuse cases. Fifty-four people were arrested.

Wednesday, April 16

11:03 a.m. A resident of the 200 block of 8th Street S. reported a fire on a neighborhood telephone pole. Police and fire personnel responded to the scene. No damage was reported.

Thursday, April 17

10:45 a.m. A Seattle resident was arrested on a liquor control ordinance violation at a bus shelter on the 200 block of 3rd Street. He was allegedly sleeping there with two open containers of beer in his possession.

1:23 p.m. An male employee was assaulted outside a business on the 200 block of Central Way. The male assailant left the area in a black 2-door Mercedes driven by a woman. The victim suffered minor injuries but declined aid.

4:23 p.m. A stolen Nissan Sentra was located at a Park and Ride lot on the 13000 block of 116th Way N.E. The owner, a Kirkland resident, was contacted and advised of the vehicle recovery.

Friday, April 18

12:56 p.m. A 30-foot sailboat ran aground near the 9700 block of N.E. Juanita Drive. King County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol later arrived and hauled the vessel free. There were no injuries; damages unknown.

12:00 p.m. Two Renton men reportedly tried to purchase medicine with a forged doctor’s prescription at a business on the 12400 block of N.E. 85th St. The men fled before police arrived.

2:52 p.m. A juvenile motorist was arrested for narcotics violations and reckless driving on the 12600 block of N.E. 80th St.

Sunday, April 20

12:00 a.m. A white male reportedly entered a business on the 12400 block of N.E. 85th Street and demanded cigarettes and money from the cash register under threat of force using a firearm. The suspect escaped with an unspecified amount of currency in a dark colored vehicle on 124th Avenue N.E.

Monday, April 21

7:00 p.m. A 51 year-old Kirkland man was arrested for shoplifting and assault after he tried to leave a grocery store on the 12500 block of N.E. 85th St. with a shopping cart full of food. When store security tried to detain him in lieu of Police, he head-butted one of them.
