A convicted murderer who stabbed an Eastside woman 18 times in the parking garage of the Gateway office building in Kirkland November 2009 pled guilty to attempted first-degree murder Monday.
Patricia Lynn Crowl, 50, who previously served nine years in prison for murder and was released in November 2006, will be sentenced Dec. 10 for the stabbing of Jaime Checkos. Crowl now faces 20 years in prison.

More than 5,000 people flocked to downtown Kirkland for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Lake Street parking lot on Saturday.
The event, hosted by the Kirkland Downtown Association, included a bonfire, tasty treats and the lighting of Kirkland’s beautiful 30-foot tree. Kirkland Mayor Joan McBride led the crowd in song before the 30-foot tree was lit.
Eastside Cardiology Associates will join Evergreen Hospital Medical Center effective Dec. 26. The partnership will provide the community with more integrated cardiology services and improved coordination of care. All 10 physicians and more than 60 staff and support members will become employees of Evergreen Hospital.
