New Petco Foundation calendar available in Kirkland, helps support animal services

Many people will be looking for a new calendar to hang on their wall for the New Year. For supporters of Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC), there's a great option: the 2015 Petco Foundation calendar. Tank and Max, two dogs from RASKC, are featured on the July page. A portion of the proceeds from each calendar purchased at the Kirkland Petco will benefit RASKC through the Petco Foundation's Tree of Hope fundraising campaign.

“We’re thrilled that the Petco Foundation chose two dogs from Regional Animal Services for their 2015 calendar,” said Dr. Gene Mueller, RASKC Manager. “Not only does it highlight the great work we’re doing here in King County, but through our partnership with Petco, it also helps us raise money and awareness and get even more pets into new homes next year.”

RASKC has showcased adoptable cats in Petco stores for several years, and has also partnered with Petco to host adoption events. Earlier this year, RASKC and Petco strengthened their partnership with the opening of the Eastside Pet Adoption Center.

The new facility, located inside the Petco store at 12040 NE 85th St. in Kirkland, was made possible by a major grant from the Petco Foundation. Since opening in late June, the Eastside location has found new homes for about 300 pets, or one-quarter of all pets adopted from RASKC in the last six months. When combined, the two RASKC pet adoption centers in Kent and Kirkland are on track to complete more than 1,800 pet adoptions this year.

“This has been a great year for us at Regional Animal Services, and we’re looking forward to even more success in 2015,” Mueller said.

The Eastside Pet Adoption Center at Kirkland Petco is open every day from 1-6 p.m.
