More than 100 attend Butterfly Garden grand opening in Kirkland

An opening celebration attended by more than 100 people was held May 14 at Carillon Woods Park, following Green Kirkland Partnership's forest restoration work party conducted by Earth Corps leaders and citizen volunteers.

More than 100 people attended the opening celebration for the new Butterfly Garden May 14 at Carillon Woods Park, following Green Kirkland Partnership’s forest restoration work party conducted by Earth Corps leaders and citizen volunteers.

Idie Ulsh, founder of the Washington Butterfly Association, and Mayor Joan McBride spoke. Piper Neil Hubbard of Kirkland performed, and Kirkland Children’s School provided butterfly-art activities for the many kids attending. Metropolitan Market provided delicious food and beverages.

The garden project is sponsored by the Kirkland Community Wildlife Habitat team.
