Montana men arrested in Kirkland; missing girl returned home

Kegan Salter and Jay Higgins, both from Montana, were arrested June 9 outside an apartment on Fourth Avenue South in Kirkland. The two men were arrested on a $50,000 warrant for conspiracy for custodial interference after bringing a 16-year-old Missoula, Mont. girl to Washington State. The girl has been returned to her family. Slater was also wanted on a $50,000 warrant for escape out of Mineral County in Montana.

Both men, who are 18-year-old, were taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service.

The girl was reported missing on May 30 and her family went on a media blitz to find her. A Facebook page along with many other Web sites, were created to help find the girl. The social networking site Myspace has been credited for leading police to Kirkland to look for the fugitives. The missing girl reportedly turned herself into Kirkland police on June 7.
