Man shot in face in Juanita neighborhood in serious condition

A 27-year-old man was shot with hand gun at about 10 p.m. Tuesday night in the Juanita neighborhood and taken to Harborview Medical Center.

“The one male was conscious with a gun shot to the face when we arrived,” said Kirkland Police Department spokesman Sgt. Rob Saloum. “He was in critical condition.”

Neighbors said that they heard people arguing prior to the gun shot.

“The two men were acquaintances and there was a verbal altercation,” said Saloum.

The injured man crawled out to the front yard and was lying on the lawn when police arrived. The circumstances leading up to the incident are not clear.

“We have not been able to talk to the injured man so we have half the story right now,” said Saloum.

The man was in critical condition when he arrived at the hospital but was later upgraded to serious condition.

Police arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the shooting and said that the two men involved knew each other. The suspect lives in the house with his grandmother and uncle.

Police cordoned off the area around the house in the 9400 block of 121st Place N.E. most of Wednesday to conduct their investigation.
