The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.

Between Dec. 14-20 the Kirkland Police Department reported 587 traffic violations (seven DUIs), three school zone traffic violations, 21 alarm calls, nine noise complaints, 15 calls of disturbance, 15 thefts, five car prowls, 37 acts of traffic abandonment, 16 calls of civil disturbance, 13 reported burglaries, eight domestic violence calls, five calls for harassment, three alleged assaults, six acts of fraud, five reports of malicious mischief and three suicides. At least 31 people were arrested.

Dec. 18

Warrant: 9:26 a.m., 13419 N.E. 137th Pl. A 22-year-old man was taken into custody on a misdemeanor warrant.

Domestic violence: 1:04 p.m., 9024 N.E. 141st St. A 50-year-old man was arrested after tackling his 52-year-old brother during an argument.

Dec. 17

Domestic violence: 9:53 p.m., 14010 Juanita Dr. N.E. A 25-year-old woman was arrested after she punched her 25-year-old boyfriend in the shoulder, which left a bruise, during an argument about her boyfriend leaving her apartment. After she was arrested she informed police that her boyfriend had pushed her down during the argument as well.

Dec. 15

Assault: 6:11 p.m., 4305 Lake Washington Blvd. N.E. A 39-year-old man was taken into custody for holding his wife and daughter captive and assaulting them. A 6-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy are witnesses to the crime.

Domestic violence: 10:20 a.m., 12832 81st Ave. N.E. A 27-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man were arrested on misdemeanor warrants. The woman’s warrant was for possession of drug paraphernalia and the man’s was for theft. The woman’s mother requested they both be trespassed from her residence as well.
