Since winter 2013, Kirkland residents have been recycling Styrofoam and more at the city’s monthly StyroFest events. Through the increases in volume collected and continued positive feedback from the community, the city has modified the events to better assist residents, while still collecting huge amounts of Styrofoam and plastic film – over 1,500 cubic yards in the last two years. The city regularly collects 75-plus cubic yards of materials per event, keeping them out of the landfill.
