Industry innovation meets job preparation at Lake Washington Institute of Technology in a meetup mashup from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on May 14. The Multimedia Design and Production program hosts a panel of experts and break-out sessions on trends, tools, toys, portfolio design and the flipped classroom.

“This is one of the most popular events we host all year,” said Nancy Dick, Dean of Instruction, Lake Washington Institute of Technology. “It’s an opportunity to hear directly from industry leaders, ask questions and see what we need to learn right now to prepare our students for the rapidly changing creative tech industry.

  • Rick Miller from Adobe Systems will show off latest innovations in Adobe Voice, Muse, Edge and Digital Publishing, industry tools to create beautiful mobile-ready content without writing code.
  • Laurie Burress from Lynda.com discusses innovation and how students move from school to industry and walks through Lynda.com’s vast libraries to create classroom curriculum and tech-savvy employees. For students, she demonstrates how to move from school to industry.
  • Iola Stetson of Wacom.com and MMDP students walk through Wacom drawing tablets designed to unleash creativity.
  • Finally, a panel of recruiters, business owners and regional creative directors will share what they’ve learned about portfolios, social networking, getting a job and staying current.

“Our goal is workforce education. It’s education for today’s careers and tomorrow’s opportunities. This event meets our mission and supports job creation,” said Dr. Amy Morrison Goings, President of Lake Washington Institute of Technology.
