Lake Washington Institute of Technology offers early achievers opportunity grant

Lake Washington Institute of Technology, in collaboration with the Washington State Department of Early Learning’s Early Achievers program, is offering opportunities for childcare professionals

Lake Washington Institute of Technology, in collaboration with the Washington State Department of Early Learning’s Early Achievers program, is offering opportunities for childcare professionals to earn certificates and/or an associate degree in early childhood education.

The Early Achievers Opportunity Grant provides funding (tuition, books and student support services) to help students earn stackable certificates, leading to an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education.

By providing scholarship funds, the Early Achievers Opportunity Grant allows childcare professionals to further their career development while expanding knowledge and skill-sets in early childhood education. Funding is provided by the Washington State Department of Early Learning and the US Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Education Race to the Top – Early Learning Challenge grant.

Eligibility requirement for childcare professionals:

• Washington state residency

• Employment at an early achievers childcare facility (10 hours per week; 40 hours per month; minimum of three months)

• Plan to pursue an early childhood education certificate or associate of arts degree

• Completed application

Lake Washington Institute of Technology will be holding information sessions for interested students at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21 and again at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9. Both sessions will be held in the Early Learning Center, S8, at Lake Washington’s Kirkland campus.
