Periodically the Kiwanis Club of Kirkland recognizes individuals who go above and beyond in helping make the Kirkland community a better place for everyone. This time the club was particularly pleased to recognize one of their own members, Mark Tillman.
Since 2008, Tillman has assumed overall responsibility for the Kirkland Interfaith Transitions in Housing community suppers which are held every Tuesday evening at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Kirkland. Each week throughout the year, Tillman coordinates and oversees various church groups and other organizations who volunteer to provide nutritious meals for less fortunate families in Kirkland.
“It’s a real credit to Mark that he makes the time and puts in the effort — week after week — to ensure that those less fortunate have at least one bright, happy moment of enjoyment in their week,” said Kathy Cannon with the Kiwanis Club of Kirkland. “Mark Tillman is truly an Everyday Hero.”
In addition to providing wholesome food, the community suppers periodically include activities for children and young people, including back-to-school assistance, as well as an annual Christmas program.
