Kirkland Interfaith Transitions in Housing was recently awarded $15,000 by the Seattle Foundation. The funding will support housing and services to families and children who are at risk of homelessness.

“Even here on the Eastside, this uncertain economy is causing a lot of instability. In the coming months, more families will be at risk of losing their homes,” said Jan Dickerman, KITH Executive Director. “Thanks to generous gifts from the community, like this grant from The Seattle Foundation, we are able to provide services to prevent homelessness.”

The organization also received $12,000 from the Employee Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound.

The funding will provide new water heaters in KITH housing sheltering families and children who are at risk of homelessness.

“We are so grateful to the employees of Boeing,” said Dickerman. “We were afraid the water heaters wouldn’t make it through the winter because they are leaking and so old. We were hoping they would not fail before we got the money to replace them.”

Located in downtown Kirkland, KITH provides programs that house, feed and clothe individuals and families at risk of homelessness on the greater Eastside.
