Visit www.ci.kirkland.wa.us/greenbuilding for new information and resources about the the City of Kirkland’s Green Building Program.
The improved Web site makes it easy for builders and residents to learn about green building, access the city’s green building services, and also connect with other programs and resources. It includes case studies on local green building projects, access to videos of past city-sponsored seminars on sustainable development, and online sign-up for the consultation program, which makes the expertise of the city’s Green Building Team available for all construction projects in Kirkland.
“The free consultations help anyone building in Kirkland to green their projects from the ground up,” notes City Planner David Barnes. “In addition to new construction, the Green Building Team is available to consult on home remodels and tenant improvements.”
The city’s Green Building Team is comprised of professionals from the Planning, Building, and Public Works departments, who are all accredited by LEED®, an internationally recognized third-party certification system that is a program of the U.S. Green Building Council. Kirkland’s Green Building Program was honored with a Built Green Hammer Award in 2008.
