A Kirkland woman recently won $310,000 playing Washington’s Lottery Hit 5. She bought the ticket at the 7-Eleven in Kirkland at 14340 124th Ave. NE.
“It’s still kind of surreal,” she told Lottery officials when she claimed her prize at the Everett Regional Office on June 9. The winner explained she has a friend who always checks her tickets for her. “I came back from lunch and he said, ‘you just won $310,000!’ I did not believe a word.”
The woman did not want her identity released.
The woman is a weekly Lottery player who has won small amounts in the past, making this her first big win. She plans to invest part of the money, and buy herself a new TV.
This isn’t the first big prize sold in Kirkland. Just last month, Bargain Beverages at 12110 NE 85th Street sold a $75,000 winning Buried Treasure Scratch ticket.
As for this particular 7-Eleven location, it has previously sold winning tickets of $70,000 and $100,000 on two different Scratch games.
Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing scholarships to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
