Kirkland Summerfest will take place Aug. 8-10 and festival organizers are seeking donations, sponsorships and volunteers.

The event is the largest premier summer festival of arts, music, food and family fun on the Kirkland waterfront. Now in its third season, volunteers are in the process of transforming Kirkland’s Marina Park and downtown core into a lively arts destination where friends, family and neighbors can connect and share in a celebration of artistic inspiration, creativity and community spirit.

To volunteer to help with this year’s Summerfest email barbiey@kirklanddowntown.org for more information.

The festival, which greets over 40,000 attendees each summer, is fully paid for by donations and sponsorships from individuals and businesses.

The event costs more than $125,000 each year to develop and run, however it has currently raised only $50,000 through sponsorships and individual donations. All funds raised go directly to paying for the entertainment, children’s rides and activities, and the required infrastructure to host an event of this size of scope. Additionally, any money made during the festival at the beer and wine garden, is returned into the community in support of other city events like Celebrate Kirkland Fourth of July, the Kirkland Car Show, Kirkland Oktoberfest and Kirkland Winterfest.
