The Ivy REALM, a Destination ImagiNation team of seven students from Kirkland Middle, Kamiakin Middle and International Community Schools scored first place for the structural challenge at the Washington state tournament in Wenatchee for the 6th-8th grade level.
The team will advance to the global finals competition at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville on May 22-25.
The WinDInators, a team of four elementary school students from Kirkland’s Lakeview and Franklin elementary schools, also won first place at the Washington state tournament in the scientific challenge for the K-5th grade level and will also be competing at finals.
The following Kirkland students will be competing at finals: Helen Arnold, Adam Chen, Laura Chen, Amy Chen, Eric Gery, Anna Stahlschmidt, Ronya Strom, Claire Whiteside and Anna Whiteside.
