Kirkland residents invited to apply to new Human Services Commission

The City of Kirkland has adult and youth vacancies on the newly created Human Services Commission (HSC), which replaces the former Human Services Advisory Committee.

The HSC advises the Kirkland City Council on matters relating to the city’s efforts to support a socially sustainable community through health and human services and programs; develops recommendations on funding priorities and policies; and reviews requests and provides recommendations for grant funding of human services. The commission’s work will initially be governed by adopted human services policies and guided by the goals and policies identified in the human services element of Kirkland’s comprehensive plan.

The members of the Human Services Commission are appointed by the city council. The council will interview qualified applicants in a special meeting scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. June 12.

Completed applications must be received by Kirkland City Clerk Kathi Anderson prior to 4 p.m. May 1; to obtain the community service application, visit kirklandwa.gov and go to the Current Recruitment Positions page, or call the city clerk’s office at 425-587-3190.

To learn more about the HSC, contact Human Services Administrator Leslie Miller at 425-587-3322 or LMiller@KirklandWA.gov.
