Kirkland residents can recycle Christmas trees beginning Jan. 2

Residents can still recycle Christmas trees

While not everyone tosses the tannenbaum immediately after the end of the year, the City of Kirkland is offering a special program to help residents recycle their Christmas trees in early January.

For the first two weeks of the new year, Jan. 2-13, residents can put whole trees next to the bin for recycling. If trees are over 6 feet, they can be cut in half.

Apartment and condo residents can place trees next to the shared garbage Dumpsters.

After Jan. 13, residents can still recycle trees, but they must be cut up and placed into the regular yard waste carts.

A map of pickup dates for multifamily properties can be found on the city’s website.
