Kirkland resident and Lake Washington High School graduate Genevieve Paul was named to the University of Portland Entrepreneur Scholars Program. Paul, a sophomore at the university, is majoring in business.
The E-Scholars program is in its 14th year and is part of the University’s Pamplin School of Business Administration’s Center for Entrepreneurship. It is a select group of University of Portland undergraduate students who create new business ventures or develop and implement strategies to improve existing enterprises.
This competitive program provides classroom activity and applied experience, including travel abroad, to expose students to new and different ways of doing business.
The Center for Entrepreneurship partners with the Portland business community to offer a nexus of entrepreneurial activities and opportunities for students of all academic disciplines in the areas of new venture creation, social entrepreneurship, not-for-profit entrepreneurship, global entrepreneurship, and innovation and technology management.
The E-Scholars program has also been adopted and “localized” by two other schools: College of St. Benedict/St. Johns University (St. Joseph, Minn.) and St. Mary’s University (San Antonio, Texas).
This past year, the program was named the “Outstanding Specialty Entrepreneurship Program” for 2012 by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
