Kirkland Police Blotter Sept. 23-29

The weekly Kirkland Police blotter is represented on an interactive map below. Instead of listing the selection of calls separately, this feature allows the information relating to the call to be placed on the map itself.

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between Sept. 23-29, the Kirkland Police Department reported 368 traffic violations (two DUIs), 17 traffic accidents, 22 noise complaints, 13 thefts, four animal control calls, three domestic violence calls, 17 alarm calls, two assaults, nine motor vehicle prowls, 13 thefts, five burglaries, four motor vehicle thefts, five cases of fraud, three malicious mischief calls and six cases of harassment. At least 36 people were arrested.

Sept. 29

Theft: 7 a.m., 12200 block of N.E. Totem Lake Way. A manager at a local business reported that a front desk clerk left without notice and did not return and $34 in cash was missing from the till. The manager suspects the clerk took the money.

Sept. 28

Domestic: 10:03 a.m., 12033 N.E. 80th Street. Two minors incited a disturbance amongst a hallway full of students as they exchanged racially insulting words, which culminated in a fight. Both were arrested for disorderly conduct and suspended from school.

Sept. 27

Disturbance: 1 p.m., 12100 N.E. 130th Lane. A 52-year-old Kirkland man and a 40-year-old Tacoma man were involved in a disturbance that left the Kirkland man charged with disorderly conduct and the Tacoma man charged with Malicious Mischief.

Sept. 25

Theft: 1:30 p.m., 12500 block of N.E. 85th Street. A 32-year-old woman from Everett was arrested after loss prevention of a local business observed her attempting to leave the store with $353.30 worth of merchandise. The woman was booked and released from the Kirkland Police Department with a court appearance pending.

Theft: 5:30 p.m., 12200 120th Ave. N.E. A 22-year-old Bothell man was detained by loss prevention after attempting to shoplift multiple items from the Fred Meyer. Collectively, the items were valued at $96.92. The man admitted to the crime and stated that he had recently lost his job and did not have enough money to pay for the items. The man was booked and released from the Kirkland Police Department with a court appearance pending.

Assault: 5:10 p.m., 10600 block of N.E. 132nd Street. A 51-year-old Renton man pushed his wife of 25 years out of their vehicle while in the parking lot of Juanita High School. The couple was there to watch their grandson play in a football game. The argument had allegedly stretched over a period of several hours. After pushing his wife from the vehicle the man started revving the engine and spinning the tires, which made his wife fearful that he was going to try and run her over. She suffered no injuries from being pushed from the vehicle.

Domestic incident: 10 p.m., 12900 block of 127th Drive N.E. An argument ensued between a mother and daughter. The two females were separated for the evening without incident.

Accident: 2:42 p.m., 9700 block of N.E. Juanita Drive. The reporting party said they saw a gray plane, that was not a seaplane, with a sputtering engine go down into the waters just off Juanita Beach. The reporting party did not see flames or smoke. Nothing was found in water.

Sept. 24

Assault: 5:30 p.m., 400 block of 4th Ave. South. A 42-year-old man called 911 after he and his wife got into an argument over an incident that happened the previous day. After speaking with both subjects, the woman stated that her husband had started the argument this morning and began to push her as she sat on the couch in the living room. She stood up to him after being pushed three times and hit him over the head with her book. This enraged the man even more and he slapped her on the right side of the face with an open hand. She stated that this caused her pain and still had a red mark on the side of her face. The man was booked into the Kirkland Police Department for fourth degree assault.

Sept. 23

Minor, liquor violation: 4:05 p.m., 11600 132nd Ave. N.E. Two 19-year-old males, one from Kenmore and one from Sammamish, were contacted sleeping in the bus shelter outside the Lake Washington Technical College. Both men showed signs of intoxication but neither would provide blood alcohol content samples. Both were arrested.
