The Kirkland Reporter is experimenting with GoogleMaps, an online interactive mapping resource supported by Google, to display the weekly police blotter.

Instead of a listing the selection of calls seperately, the interactive map allows the information relating to the call to be placed on the map itself.

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police department that are dispatched to on-duty police officer. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,500 per week.

Between March 4-10, the Kirkland Police Department reported 355 traffic violations (10 DUIs), 40 vehicle prowls, 24 alarm calls, 22 car accidents, 18 thefts, 11 assaults (seven domestic violence) and 10 burglaries. At least 51 people were arrested.
