Kirkland police blotter | Man steals from Rite-Aid, gets caught while stealing from Office Max

The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between Sept. 24-30, the Kirkland Police Department reported 346 traffic violations (five DUIs), 20 traffic accidents, 19 noise complaints, 16 thefts, two domestic violence calls, seven calls of assault, 23 alarm calls, 23 motor vehicle prowls, two motor vehicle thefts, five burglaries, 18 disturbances, two cases of fraud, eight harassment calls and six animal control calls. At least 35 people were arrested.

Sept. 30

Order violation: 8:01 a.m., 11400 block of 105th Court N.E. A 21-year-old man was arrested for violating a protection order and had a domestic violence assault warrant.

Harassment: 4 p.m., 12200 block of 131st Place N.E. A woman was trying to get some of her belongings from her ex-boyfriend’s home. A comment was made by her ex’s friend to the woman’s mother that if the police were involved there could be retaliation. The woman and her mother retrieved some things and said that she would pursue the rest in small-claims court. The woman and mother wanted the event documented to get a protection order.

Sept. 29

DUI: 2:06 a.m., 7000 block of 405 N.E. A 54-year-old Bellevue man was stopped after an officer followed him for approximately 15 blocks going 38 mph and observing him swerve into other lanes of traffic twice. The man showed signs of intoxication and admitted drinking four Corona’s before leaving his sister’s house to return home. The man provided a blood alcohol sample of .115.

Burglary: 4 p.m., 300 block of Fourth Street. A business owner reported that her business had been entered unlawfully. Numerous items had been moved but nothing was missing.

Sept. 28

Assault: 2:30 p.m., 400 block of 18th Ave. A 14-year-old student reported that another student assaulted him by striking him with a tennis ball at close range and injuring his lower back. The case was referred to the juvenile prosecutor.

Traffic offense: 2:04 a.m., 100 Sixth Street South. A 24-year-old woman was stopped on a traffic violation and found to have a suspended license and was arrested.

Warrant arrest: 5:44 p.m., 12700 block of N.E. 120th Street. A 27-year-old Shoreline female was stopped on traffic violations and arrested for outstanding warrants.

Assault: 7:45 p.m., 208 Parkplace Center. Police chased a 16-year-old boy after he assaulted a 23-year-old Kirkland man and was found to be in possession of alcohol.

Sept. 27

Order violation: 12:58 p.m., 7800 126th Ave N.E. After a report of suspicious activity a 23-year-old Lake Stevens’ man was booked for violation of a protection order after attempting to scale a fence. A 30-year-old Bellevue man, who was with the suspect, was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

Theft: 12:30 p.m., 1200 block of 120th Place N.E. A 32-year-old Seattle man set off the alarm at Office Max when he walked into the store with multiple items in a shopping bag. The manager confronted the man and took the items with his consent. The manager called Rite-Aid and they confirmed that the items the man had in his possession were missing from their store. When the man was arrested and led out of the Office Max he set off the alarm and was found to have unpaid Office Max merchandise in his back pack. The man was also found to have a misdemeanor and a felony warrant out for his arrest for forged prescriptions.
