The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between Oct. 8-14, the Kirkland Police Department reported 388 traffic violations (six hit and runs), 18 traffic accidents, 16 noise complaints, 16 thefts, six domestic violence calls, three calls of assault, 25 alarm calls, seven motor vehicle prowls, five motor vehicle thefts, seven burglaries, 15 disturbances, three cases of fraud, nine harassment calls and two animal control calls. At least 34 people were arrested.

Oct. 14

Threats: 8:08 p.m., 900 block of 6th Street South. Suspect told victim that he has shot a female in the past, had a gun and was not afraid to use it. Victim felt fear that he would carry out his threat.

Order violation: A 36-year-old Federal Way man violated his no contact order when he was seen picking up the victim after their court appearance. Federal Way responded to the subject’s address and took him into custody.

Oct. 13

Domestic: 6:30 p.m., 12300 block of 93rd Ave N.E. A domestic disturbance between a husband and wife. Verbal with no assaults or injuries. Multiple children were present. One of the parents left for the night and the household firearm was taken for safekeeping.

Oct. 12

Theft: 2:30 p.m., 12040 N.E. 128th Street. A 44-year-old California female was arrested for stealing a coat from the EGH gift shop at a value of $34.99.

Indecent exposure: 4:45 p.m., 12000 block of 100th Ave. N.E. A 12-year-old reported that a white male in his 20’s with black spiked hair drove by her and her friends near the Esplanade Condos. The driver drive by very slowly and then went up the road out of sight and turned around. The male driver drove back by them slower this time and the girl could see that he had removed his pants and was masturbating as he looked at her. The vehicle then drive off and she was not able to obtain the license-plate number. The vehicle was described as an older large white four door sedan, possibly a Chevrolet.

Oct. 11

DUI: 2:20 a.m. 10200 N.E. 116th Street. Subject was stopped for lane travel violations and was found to be DUI.

Oct. 10

Burglary: 7 p.m., 325 Parkplace Center. Ravenna Gardens was burglarized overnight. Entry was made by prying open the sprinkler room door, and then making a hole in the western sheet rocked wall. Suspect took some change and nothing else.

Traffic offense: A 33-year-old male was stopped for a traffic violation and was arrested for DUI.

Assault: 6 p.m., 8200 126th Ave. N.E. A 37-year-old Shoreline female assaulted her boyfriend after an argument.

Theft: 10:51 p.m., 211 Parkplace Center. A 50-year-old homeless man was arrested for shoplifting beer.

Oct. 9

Liquor violation: 1:12 a.m., 25 Lakeshore Plaza. Five males were contacted at the dead end of Kirkland Ave. on the pier. The males were involved in a disturbance and all of them were arrested for minor in possession and one had a misdemeanor theft warrant.

Hit-and-run: 12:45 p.m., 320 Parkplace Center. Officers responded to a witness hit and run at Parkplace. Two witnesses reported seeing a male driving a white Chevy sport utility vehicle side-swipe a CHevy Cavalier. Officers observed reportable damage to the Cavalier. Based on the description and a partial plate. Officers located the suspect vehicle and the 16-year-old driver. The suspect admitted to striking the vehicle and leaving the scene.

Oct. 8

Minor, liquor violation: 10:16 p.m., 25 Lakeshore Plaza. Five underage subjects contacted in the parking lot of Lakeshore Plaza in their vehicle and found to be under the influence of intoxicants. All five subjects were arrested and cited through the investigation for minor in consumption.

Assault: 12:35 a.m., 15 Lake Street. Patrol units were flagged down by the bouncers at the Lake Street Grill after and assault occurred inside the establishment. Further investigation revealed that a 25-year-old black male had become angry with the white victim when he was dancing with other african american females on the dance floor and told him to “dance with his own race.” Words were exchanged and the suspect punched the victim twice in the face as he was leaving. Upon a field show-uo being conducted, the suspect was arrested for assault. The victim sustained multiple cuts and bruises to his face.
