Kirkland City Hall to experience planned power outages Saturday

Kirkland City Hall will experience several planned power outages on Saturday while electrical contractors complete installation of updated electrical equipment as one of the final pieces of the building’s renovation.

Two separate outages are expected to last 15 to 30 minutes, with the first beginning around 6 a.m. and the second outage occurring in the late morning or early afternoon. Loss of power during these short durations means all city websites will be down, phones at city hall will not function and the free Kirkland wireless system, both downtown and in the parks, will not be available during those times. Otherwise, systems will be functional for the majority of the day.

The city television stations, KGov (Comcast Channel 21, Frontier Channel 31) and K-life (Comcast Channel 75 and Frontier Channel 32) will be off the air for the duration of work being performed, which is expected to last approximately eight hours.

City hall will be running on limited power during the electrical installation. If for any reason the electrical work accidently shuts off power to the building, all city websites, phones and wireless will not function.
