After four years of the tradition in Canada, Phil Sorgen, corporate vice president at Microsoft Corp., enlisted the Kirkland Boys & Girls Club to help him create his holiday e-card.

More than 60 children, ages 6-12, created holiday cards and submitted them to Sorgen.

Alex Leverett, an 11-year-old from Kirkland, designed the winning card that Sorgen sent to more than 1,200 Microsoft employees over the holidays.

“Microsoft Canada had a tradition of working with the local Boys & Girls Club to create a holiday card for colleagues and friends that featured artwork from a Boys & Girls Club member. We wanted to bring that tradition to the Boys & Girls Club here in Kirkland,” said Sorgen. “More than 60 children submitted original artwork, with the winner receiving a gift card, new Xbox and recognition as part of an electronic holiday greeting that will be distributed to more than 1,200 people within Microsoft. My thanks to all the students who entered their imaginative and inventive entries.”
