The Board of Directors of Attain Housing has announced the selection of Cheri Kilty as its new executive director.
Kilty, who will officially take the helm on July 27, brings a strong background in housing and homelessness to her new role.
“I am very excited about this new opportunity, and look forward to working with the board and staff at Attain Housing to make our hopes and dreams for homeless families come true,” Kilty said.
She most recently served as the executive director of the YWCA of Bellingham, where she led all aspects of agency operations, including a merger with the Womencare Shelter in 2013. She served as the East King County Regional Director of the YWCA where she participated in the development of 144 units of affordable housing in the Issaquah Highlands — known today as Family Village Issaquah. Earlier in her career she led the Broadview Shelter & Transitional Housing program at Solid Ground.
“The board was searching for a seasoned, experienced executive, one who could confidently and capably lead our agency as we expand our services to better meet the needs of homeless families in East King County,” said Attain Housing Board of Directors President Ken Davidson. “Cheri’s knowledge of housing, her strong connections to our region and her experience as a successful leader made her the perfect choice for Attain Housing.”
Attain Housing has been serving homeless families in the community for more than 25 years. It is the result of a 2013 merger between KITH (Kirkland Interfaith Transitional Housing) and Housing at the Crossroads. Attain Housing currently provides 33 units of family centered housing and services to King County residents who are facing homelessness, meeting their critical needs while working with them as they transform their lives.
Kilty will be helping the agency prepare for its upcoming “Wish Upon a Star” dinner auction in September and working with the board to create a new Strategic Plan to guide the agency over the next five years.
“We are looking forward to working with Cheri in the years ahead to strengthen and expand our support for homeless families,” Davidson said.
