Kirkland baseball team wins regional tourney, raising funds to attend tournament in California

The Lux 16U Kirkland Baseball Club All-Stars finished the regular season unbeaten and also won the Northwest Colt Regional Tournament. The Kirkland team defeated the North Seattle Rainer’s 10-2 during the finals of the tournament on July 19.

Lux also defeated the Kirkland Battle Cats, 9-4, during the first round of the tournament, the North Seattle Pilots, 12-2, the North Seattle Rainer’s, 10-3, the Bothell Rampage, 13-6, and the North Seattle Pilots for a second time, 7-0, during the semifinals.

The tournament win means that Lux now moves on to play in San Jose, Cali. during the West Zone Final from July 31 to Aug. 5.

The Kirkland team will play in a bracket with teams from California, Arizona and Hawaii. The winner earns the right to go to the “International Colt World Series” in Lafayette, Ind. from Aug. 8-12.

The team will hold a celebration and fundraiser at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Eagles Club 258 Central Way in Kirkland. The Lux will also hold a fundraiser at Acropolis Pizza and Pasta on July 28 where George and Happy Tsantilas will donate a portion of all receipts to LUX 16U All-Stars. Acropolis Pizza and Pasta is located at 500 Central Way in Kirkland. All proceeds will go towards funding the team’s trip to California and beyond.
