Pawsitive Alliance officials announced Wednesday that 116 cats and dogs were adopted in just four hours at the third annual Bow Wow Meow Luau adoption event held June 29 at Denny’s Pet World in Kirkland.

This is the largest single day adoption number at a Pawsitive Alliance hosted adoption event since our organization started hosting multi-shelter adoption events in 2005. In addition, at least ten additional adoption applications are pending for consideration. Large and small, young and mature, purebreds and mixed breeds – were all finding new homes.

All of the animals available for adoption were brought by western and central Washington rescues and shelters, not private owners or breeders, and each animal was perfect in their own way but just lacked a perfect home.

“I was doing the hula I was so happy.” said Yolanda Morris, Co-Founder and Board President.

The primary goal of these large adoption events is to provide rescue and shelter cats and dogs additional exposure and opportunities to be adopted. Pawsitive Alliance hosts several adoption events throughout the year across Washington State and typically sees 50-100 animals adopted in three to four hours.

As successful as this event was many dogs and cats weren’t adopted and are still waiting for their next chance to find a great home. To help them and many more homeless animals Pawsitive Alliance’s next hosted event is Woofstock 2014 being held Aug. 2 at Todd Field on the campus of Puget Sound University in Tacoma in partnership with Dugan Foundation.
