King County seniors and residents with disabilities have the opportunity to apply online for property tax exemptions.
Exemptions with an income threshold of $40,000 a year have been available statewide for a number of years. As of 2019 the income threshold for King County was changed to $58,423, an increase of almost 50 percent.
The online application can be found on King County’s website at senior-exemption.kingcounty.gov/intro.
To apply online through King County, applicants must own the home they live in, be 61 years old by Dec. 31 of the preceding year and earn a maximum income of $58,423.
In addition to meeting all qualifications, applicants will need any income or expense documents — from the applicant as well as the applicant’s partner — to complete the application process. Applicants will also need to provide personal information regarding proof of identity and personal finances.
The Redmond Senior Center has staff available if applicants need assistance with the online application process.
