Juanita Elementary School PTA is partnering with Clothes for the Cause to collect clothing and textiles on Earth Day on April 22. This clothing and textile drive will not only help to keep items out of growing landfills; it will also help to raise money for the Outdoor Education Program at Juanita Elementary School.

“We are thrilled to be working with Clothes for the Cause,” said Allison Clevenger, Juanita Elementary School’s PTA Co-President. “Together with Clothes for the Cause we are helping to make it easy for our Kirkland community to contribute by collecting items, free of charge that our friends, family and neighbors already have in their houses.”

Washington Federal Bank is also helping the cause by collecting donations between now and April 22. Donations can be made Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Washington Federal Bank, located at 13633 100th Ave NE in Kirkland. In addition, a collection trailer will be located in the lower parking lot of Juanita Elementary School and will be open for donations between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., April 19-22. Items accepted not only include clothing, but also include pairs of shoes, hats, gloves, towels, sheets, blankets, quilts, drapery, purses, belts, rugs and stuffed animals. Items do not necessarily need to be in good condition. As long as they are kept clean and dry in a tightly tied plastic bag, 98 percent of household textiles can be recycled.
