I-405 reduced to one lane in Kirkland area this weekend

Nighttime drivers who travel in either direction of Interstate 405 near north Bellevue and Kirkland should plan for possible delays overnight this weekend.

Nighttime drivers who travel in either direction of Interstate 405 near north Bellevue and Kirkland should plan for possible delays overnight this weekend. Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation plan to reduce the roadway to a single lane and close some nearby ramps to continue grinding, paving and restriping work for the I-405 Bellevue to Lynnwood Widening and Express Toll Lanes project.

Friday, Aug. 22 to the morning of Saturday, Aug. 23

  • Up to three lanes of southbound I-405 between Northeast 70th Street and State Route 520 will close starting at 8 p.m. Two lanes will close at 9 p.m., and three lanes will close at 11 p.m. Two lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. and all lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. Saturday.
  • Up to three lanes of northbound I-405 between SR 520 and Northeast 70th Street will close starting at 8 p.m. Two lanes will close at 9 p.m., and three lanes will close at 11 p.m. One lane will reopen by 5 a.m. and all lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. Saturday.
  • The southbound I-405 off-ramp to Northeast 70th Street will close from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • The Northeast 70th Street on-ramp to southbound I-405 will close from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Saturday, Aug. 23 to the morning of Sunday, Aug. 24

  • Up to four lanes of southbound I-405 between Northeast 70th Street and SR 520 will close starting at 8 p.m. Two lanes will close at 7:30 p.m., three lanes will close at 11 p.m., and four lanes will close at 1 a.m. Two lanes will reopen by 8 a.m., and all lanes will reopen by noon Sunday.
  • Up to three lanes of northbound I-405 between Northeast 70th Street and Northeast 85th Street will close starting at 7 p.m. Two lanes will close at 7:30 p.m., and three lanes will close at 11 p.m. One lane will reopen by 7 a.m. and all lanes will reopen by 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
  • The southbound off-ramp to Northeast 70th Street will close from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.
  • The Northeast 70th Street on-ramp to southbound I-405 will close from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
  • The northbound off-ramp to Northeast 70th Street will close from 8 p.m. to 11 a.m. for paving work.

Sunday, Aug. 24 to the morning of Monday, Aug. 25

  • Up to three lanes of southbound I-405 between Northeast 70th Street and SR 520 will close starting at 7 p.m. Two lanes will close at 8 p.m., three lanes will close at 11 p.m., and four lanes will close at 1 a.m. One lane will reopen by 4:30 a.m., and all lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
  • Up to three lanes of northbound I-405 between Northeast 70th Street and Northeast 85th Street will close starting at 8 p.m. for paving work. Two lanes will close 9 p.m., and three lanes will close at 10 p.m. Two lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. and all lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. Monday.
  • The southbound off-ramp to Northeast 70th Street will close from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • The Northeast 70th Street on-ramp to southbound I-405 will close from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

All drivers, particularly motorcyclists, are reminded to slow down and use care when traveling through the paving area. This work is weather dependent and subject to change.
