Henkens, Chinchilla separated by 39 votes in Kirkland City Council primary, Kloba at 58 percent

King County Elections released new ballot totals for the 2015 primary election Wednesday afternoon and the race for the second spot for Kirkland City Council position No. 2 has grown tighter.

King County Elections released new ballot totals for the 2015 primary election Wednesday afternoon and the race for the second spot for Kirkland City Council position No. 2 has grown tighter.

According to King County Elections, Kloba has received the most votes so far with 5,248 (58.26 percent).

But Henkens and Chinchilla are now within 39 votes of each other. On Tuesday night, Henkens held a 53 vote lead. He still narrowly holds second place, pulling in 1,499 votes or 16.64 percent. Chinchilla has 1,460 votes or 16.21 percent.

Jory Hamilton is currently in a distant fourth place with 774 votes or 8.59 percent.

The general election will be held Nov. 3.

King County Elections will release more vote totals tomorrow. The Kirkland Reporter will post an update when new vote totals are released.
