Hammer assault suspect arrested in Oregon

Police have arrested Milord Gelin, who is accused of allegedly breaking into a Kirkland home and attacking his ex-girl friend with a hammer. Gelin, 33, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at a Greyhound bus station in Eugene, Ore. said King County Sheriff spokesman John Urquhart.

Police said that the man broke into Laurie Williams Kirkland home at around 3:30 a.m. on Monday and assaulted her with a hammer in her sleep. After hearing screams for help, neighbors called 911. Williams’ 14-year-old daughter was home at the time but was not injured. Gelin left the home by stealing Williams’ SUV.

Williams is being treated for severe injuries at Evergreen Medical Center.

Williams and Gelin had ended a three-year relationship during the summer.
