Futurewise will host a public display called “Transit-Oriented Communities: A Blueprint for Kirkland and the Eastside” at the Kirkland Public Library from Feb. 22 to March 26. The transit-oriented communities display is 16 panels that visually and textually describe transit-oriented communities and how the communities can help local economies, working families and the environment.

Futurewise will hold a grand opening ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Kirkland Public Library. The public is invited to attend to hear and talk with Futurewise staff, local public officials and others about transit-oriented communities and related current projects in Kirkland such as the proposed South Kirkland Park and Ride redevelopment.

Futurewise is Washington’s nonprofit advocacy group working to protect local rivers, lakes, and Sound; save habitat and local farms; expand transit and street choices; and build great, healthy communities. Futurewise’s priorities in King County are to build transit-oriented communities and adopt countywide policies that reduce global warming pollution.
