Friends of Youth will celebrate the creation of new housing for homeless young adults and foster youth in extended care on Thursday, April 17.

King County Executive Dow Constantine, First Lady Trudi Inslee, Kirkland Mayor Amy Walen and Rep. Roger Goodman will speak at the event, which begins at noon on Friends of Youth’s Kirkland campus, 13116 NE 132nd St. in Kirkland.

A ribbon cutting will celebrate the completion of two new transitional living homes to house 10 homeless youth and young adults, ages 16-21.

At the same time, a groundbreaking ceremony will celebrate the start of construction on two new extended foster care homes for youth ages 18-21. Construction on these homes is expected to conclude in October.

Friends of Youth delivers a comprehensive range of therapeutic services for youth, young adults and families.  With over 60 years of experience, national accreditation and 20 program sites, the agency provides safe places to live and emotional support for youth and families in challenging circumstances.
