Kirkland ophthalmologist and University of Washington instructor Dr. Jennifer Lee was last month named the UW department of ophthalmology’s 2007-2008 outstanding teacher of the year during its 34th annual Resident Alumni Day.

Lee won the award for her clinical instruction in eye surgery. She instructs resident doctors in the university’s ophthalmology department in anterior segment and cornea surgery. The department focuses on common surgeries such as cataract and LASIK as well as rarer surgeries such as Asian Blepharoplasty or “Asian Eyelid” surgery and all trauma-related (injury) surgeries. Dr. Lee currently specializes in teaching the latest cataract surgery techniques.

Dr. Lee, MD, has practiced medicine since 2000. She has provided ophthalmology services in downtown Kirkland since 2004 in addition to teaching eye surgery for the University of Washington since 2006. Her office is located at 138 Central Way in Kirkland.
