Drivers in Bellevue and Kirkland may need to add some extra time to their trips this weekend as lane and ramp closures will affect traffic on Interstate 405 and State Route 520.
I-405
Crews will close up to three lanes of northbound I-405 between SR 520 and Northeast 85th Street from 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4 until noon Sunday, May 5. Additionally, several ramps will also close in the area including:
- The northbound I-405 off-ramp to Northeast 70th Street from 8 p.m. to 11 a.m.
- The Northeast 70th Street on-ramp to northbound I-405 from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
During these closures, crews will continue re-striping the highway so that they can shift lanes and create work zones for the Bellevue to Lynnwood Widening and Express Toll Lanes project. Similar work is likely to continue for the next five weekends, depending on weather.
SR 520
Crews will close the westbound SR 520 off-ramp to 92nd Avenue Northeast from 9 p.m. Saturday, May 4 until 5 a.m. Sunday, May 5. A signed detour will direct westbound drivers who normally use the ramp to exit the highway at 108th Avenue Northeast and use local roads to reach their destinations.
During the closure, crews will put the finishing touches to relocate the ramp to make room for a wider SR 520 corridor as part of the Eastside Transit and HOV project. Regular users of the new off-ramp will see additional adjustments later this year as crews build a roundabout interchange at the top of the ramp.
Before heading out the door, drivers should check the most up-to-date information with WSDOT’s online travel tools such as the Seattle traffic page, the What’s Happening Now page, or the WSDOT mobile app.
