Driver killed in single-vehicle collision in Kirkland

An adult male was killed last night when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway on Simonds Road Northeast at 92nd Avenue Northeast and crashed into an embankment and heavy shrubbery.

An adult male was killed Friday night when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway on Simonds Road Northeast at 92nd Avenue Northeast and crashed into an embankment and heavy shrubbery.

Kirkland Police responded at approximately 10:50 p.m. to a report of a possible accident and arrived to find two adult males with injuries received in the collision. Kirkland Fire Department aid and fire personnel also arrived, but the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The passenger was alive and transported to Evergreen Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

The Kirkland Police Traffic Unit was on scene conducting the investigation into the crash.  Excessive speed is a possible factor in the incident but other factors will not be known until the investigation is complete.
