When the Kirkland Summer Concert Series committee needed a great poster, they turned to the Digital Design class at Lake Washington High School.
The committee chair’s son had taken the class three years ago, and she had been impressed with the professional designs those students produced.
This year’s students began work on the concert posters in January. Each student designed a poster, flier, and banner. A panel of six judges chose the winners in May.
As one judge said: “These high school students are amazing and it is so hard to make a choice.”
Junior Juan Gonzalez created the winning design. The poster and fliers will be distributed all over Kirkland. The banner will hang on the Marina Park pavilion at each concert, and will be in the Fourth of July parade.
Kirkland’s summer concerts are held throughout July and August – Tuesday mornings are for children, and Thursday evenings are for all ages. The concert Web site is www.KirklandSummerConcerts.org.
