The following is a release from the office of Congresswoman Suzan DelBene:
Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) hosted the annual First Congressional District career fair at Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) Nov. 12.
“With many working families still struggling in the midst of continued economic recovery, my top priority in Congress is helping to create jobs and strengthen our economy,” DelBene said. “But there are still too many Americans who can’t find full-time employment. Career fairs are an important way to help connect employers with those struggling to find work, so everyone wins.”
More than 40 First District employers had booths at the fair, including AT&T, Puget Sound Energy and EvergreenHealth. This was the second career fair hosted by DelBene in conjunction with WorkSource to serve jobseekers in King, Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties.
“Workforce Snohomish is proud to partner with Congresswoman DelBene’s office and regional employers to provide this valuable service to our community. Individuals who are struggling to find employment can take advantage of numerous opportunities at the fair. Those facing significant difficulties can engage with our WorkSource staff to explore other services and programs that may be of assistance,” said Erin Monroe, CEO Workforce Snohomish.
“We’re grateful for Congresswoman DelBene’s support of developing innovative career pathways that work for both employers and workers,” said Marléna Sessions, CEO of the Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County. “The First Congressional District Career Fair provides a fantastic opportunity for jobseekers to connect with regional employers in high-demand industries.”
“Lake Washington Institute of Technology is very excited to partner with Congresswoman DelBene, Worksource, and local employers on the First Congressional District Career Fair, on our Kirkland campus. Since 1949, LWTech has been a college of choice for workforce education as we provide students with a direct connection with industry employers. We know that this collaboration will result in a great event for students, employers, and the local community, and we look forward to seeing everyone on campus,” said President of LWTech, Dr. Amy Morrison Goings.
