Construction work begins on NE 85th Street project in Kirkland

Tri State Construction will begin under-grounding the overhead utility wires on NE 85th Street from 120th Avenue NE to 128th Avenue NE this week.

Tri State Construction will begin under-grounding the overhead utility wires on NE 85th Street from 120th Avenue NE to 128th Avenue NE this week.

In addition, they will install underground conduit for future wire under-grounding from 128th Avenue NE to 132nd Avenue NE.

In mid-March, the first section of trenching will be on the north side of NE 85th Street starting at 120th and moving toward 124th Avenue NE.

The second section of trenching will move to the south side of NE 85th Street across 124th Avenue and continue along the south side to 128th Avenue NE. Third section of trenching for future under-grounding will start on the south side east of 128th Avenue and continue to 132nd Avenue NE.

One lane of traffic may be closed intermittently where necessary. However, at least one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction.

Flagging operations will be in effect directing traffic as needed. No-parking signs will be posted at least 24 hours in advance of any parking restrictions. Open trenches will be backfilled and/or covered at the end of each work day. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout the construction process.

The work is anticipated to be complete by fall of 2012. Day time work hours are scheduled between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.; some night work may be necessary to avoid traffic impacts.
