The Kiwanis Club of Kirkland will celebrate 60 years of service to the children of their community by hosting a special evening on May 30 from 6-11 p.m. at the Bear Creek Golf and Country Club.

The Kiwanis Club of Kirkland will celebrate 60 years of service to the children of their community by hosting a special evening on May 30 from 6-11 p.m. at the Bear Creek Golf and Country Club.

The event will commemorate the dedicated service of its members and will introduce this club’s first auction in support of a community service project. Kirkland Kiwanis will donate all the proceeds to the Lake Washington Schools Foundation (LWSF), benefiting students throughout Kirkland, Redmond and Sammamish, in the upcoming school year.

There will be a social hour, dinner, program, auction, fun and games, and will end with music and dancing for everyone to enjoy.

Wheelchair ramp for disabled woman

A disabled Kirkland resident has been selected to receive a free wheelchair access ramp as part of the 15th Annual “Rampathon” event, organized by the Master Builders Care Foundation.

The foundation is building the ramp to Eugenie Rosner’s home at (12405 NE 141st St.).

Since 1993, Master Builders Care Foundation volunteer builder-remodelers have designed and constructed 230 free wheelchair access ramps for low income disabled homeowners in King and Snohomish Counties.

Additional free access ramps will be designed and constructed for disabled persons in Burien (2) Snohomish, Enumclaw, Redmond, Kent (2), Mill Creek, Seatac, Shoreline, Lynnwood, Issaquah, Seattle (2), Monroe, Everett (3), Kirkland and 10-15 additional disabled ramp recipients to be announced in the coming weeks.

Green group looking for volunteers May 10

The Green Kirkland Partnership is looking for volunteers to help mother earth over Mother’s Day weekend.

From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 10, volunteers and a EarthCorps crew will clean and remove invasive plants from Watershed Park (4530 112th Ave. N.E, Kirkland).

The Kirkland Parks Department will provide tools and equipment at the event, but the partnership asks those who can to bring their own clippers and shovels.
