LEADERSHIP EASTSIDE PRESENTING COMMUNITY PROJECTS

The Leadership Eastside class of 2010 will present its community projects Thursday, May 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lake Washington Technical College, Redmond Campus.

Kirkland Downtown Association promotions manager Julie Metteer will be among those making presentations. The event represents the culmination of a year’s discovery and development for the Eastside’s next generation community leaders. 

‘CORTEO’ EXTENDED

Cirque du Soleil is extending the run of “Corteo” at King County’s Marymoor Park in Redmond through June 1. Cirque Club members can access tickets for the added performances now. The additional tickets go on sale to the general public May 4.

KBA ‘BOWL-A-PALOOZA’ IS THIS WEEKEND

The Kirkland Business Association will host a “Bowl-A-Palooza” charity bowling event to benefit the Kirkland Boys & Girls Club on May 4 from 1-4 p.m. at Tech City Bowl. Tickets are $30 per person.

The event will include door and raffle prizes, team theme prizes, best and worst score prizes and an ignominious award for most gutter balls.

Also, local jewelry store Dynamic Designs Jewelry has come up with a unique promotion for the event, selling cupcakes embedded with one-half to six carat blue topaz, amethyst, garnet, sapphire or ruby gemstones. Proceeds from the $10 cupcakes will go to the Boys & Girls Club. The store will give a discount on setting the found stones in new jewelry.

BOY SCOUTS RECOGNIZE OUTSTANDING LOCALS

The Boy Scouts of America Sammamish Trails District recognized four Kirkland residents as outstanding adult volunteers at its April 17 district dinner.

Corey Freebairne was recognized as the Scout Leader of the Year. Nick Heaton and Steve Lum received the district Award of Merit, the highest possible award given to recognize ongoing, consistent contributions to scouting at the district level. Jenny Prior was honored with the Blue Heron Award.
