Challenge Island, the children’s education and enrichment program that promotes creative and crucial thinking skills in children, today announced it is accepting registrations to its summer camps in Kirkland and Bothell. Challenge Island Bothell Seattle is new to the greater Seattle area.
“We invite the entire community to discover Challenge Island,” said Tamara Menteer Gonzalez, owner of Challenge Island Bothell Seattle. “With exciting islands such as Shark Tooth Island, Amusement Park Island and more, Challenge Island doesn’t just entertain children but gives parents a new way to empower them to think outside of the box and flex their cognitive and creative muscles.”
Challenge Island offers a cutting edge educational thought program where participants divide into tribes and take on exciting thematic STEM (science,
technology, engineering, and math) focused challenges. Through what is called “Cooperative Learning,” children in kindergarten through sixth grade collaborate with their peers to accomplish a shared goal.
“Children are inherently curious to know about the ways things work,” said Gonzalez. “By providing them principles of science, we empower them, and by encouraging their group processes of scientific design, we tap into their natural ability to formulate theoretical thought into real constructs. This is very mature thinking processes at work, and our teachers are trained to constantly encourage them on this journey of understanding.”
Challenge Island Bothell Seattle officially began serving the community on Feb. 3 with an after school enrichment program at Woodmoor Elementary in Bothell. Registration is open for summer camps in partnership with and at Kirkland’s very own Juanita Community Club, as well as at UW Bothell, Snapdoodle Toys in Kenmore, Redmond Community Club, Woodinville Montessori School, Hollyhills Clubhouse in Bothell, Northshore YMCA in Bothell and University Heights Community Center in Seattle.
