Bomb scare, bank robbery shuts down Sterling Bank

A man holding a suspicious package robbed the Sterling Bank and threatened employees with a bomb Tuesday morning.

A man holding a suspicious package robbed the Sterling Bank and threatened employees with a bomb Tuesday morning.

The man left the package inside the bank and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The bank, located in the 200th block of Central Way, was evacuated along with neighboring businesses. Bellevue Bomb Squad determined the package was not a bomb and disposed of the package.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, 185 pounds, wearing a white t-shirt and dark sweat pants. The suspect wore a white mask, black shoes believed to be “Asics” brand, and a black baseball hat with a red bill and red “F” on the front.

The F.B.I. is investigating the robbery.
